Meet Our Founder - Laz Kalemis

Lazaros Kalemis is a first generation Greek-American businessman and payments industry veteran. He is known as the founder of Alpha Card Services, which later rebranded as Simpay, a payment processing and merchant business solutions company based in Trevose, Pennsylvania. 

In May 2012, Laz was honored with the 40 Under 40 Award by the Philadelphia Business Journal. 

July 11, 2012, Kalemis was announced as a finalist for the SmartCEO Circle of Excellence award under the Distinguished Leadership category. 

In 2012, Kalemis was named a finalist for the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award. 

In 2024, Kalemis was named a finalist of the EY Entrepreneur Of The Year^® 2024 Greater Philadelphia Award. 

Laz was recognized in Exelon’s list of 100 Most Dynamic Leaders of 2025 and featured in Exelon Magazine’s annual issue.
